Here you find virtual remote controls (VRCs) for download.

Together with the iRed application several examples for VRCs are part of the installation package.
The VRCs on this page are created at tin:b software, but I hope that you will send me your favorite VRC to share it with others!

The VRC "Regie" to the left is a beautiful example what customers are doing with iRed. Together with an additional Infrared/Radio translator here the controlling of lamps and a heater was realized (Thx to Marcus W.!).

Several VRCs in the archive contain infrared codes of special kinds of remote controls, others consist of ready-to-use solutions in AppleScript for controlling applications on your Mac.

Instructions for Download

Please don't simply click on the links to download the VRCs - your browser will probably show unreadable binary code. Instead use the context menu on the links, i.e. use Control-click or the right mouse button to open up a menu. From this menu choose "Save Linked File As..." or "Download Link As...", depending on your browser.

AppleScripts
... to control applications on your Mac

All listed VRCs contain AppleScripts which are triggered by an infrared signal, received by the infrared device. So you may control your Keynote presentation with a Sony CD RC, e.g.

Details on how to create those VRCs can be found in the chapter "Remote Contol the Mac" in the manual.

Please note that for running these AppleScripts you have to set a special option inside the System Preferences. You will find this on the "Universal Access Pane", in the lower left corner:

This setting is essential to control applications by AppleScript which are not scriptable by itself. Even Apple's Keynote is not scriptable yet!
PowerPoint
Some basic commands: Start, Stop, next and previous slide, slide 1 and "Screen black"
Keynote
Some basic commands: Start, Stop, next and previous slide, slide 1 and "Screen black"
iPhoto 4
All functions available during a slide show, are controllable by this VRC: Start and stop slideshow, pause, next, previous, rotate picture left/right, delete picture and give it a rating from 0 to 5. You may also speed up or slow down the slideshow.
iPhoto 2
All functions available during a slide show (less than for iPhoto 2), are controllable by this VRC: Start and stop slideshow, pause, next, previous, speed up or slow down the slideshow.
The pause function of iPhoto 2 is somewhat buggy. After using "pause" please wait until the pause symbol on the screen has vanished completely. Afterwards the next and previous functions work as expected.
